Abstract

The European capital market from a European player’s point of view In this interview, the former general manager of the Bank for International Settlements expresses his point of view on the integration of the capital markets in the main regions of the industrialised world and offers his recommendations for improving this process. He also shares his opinion of the risks generated by certain categories of institutions such as hedge funds. Lastly, he describes his perception of the relationships between the European capital market and its international environment, and his views regarding the level of cooperation between the various regulatory authorities working to ensure international financial stability.
