Abstract

This chapter discusses entropy, the decline of diversity, the exoticization and domestication of the practices of travel during the late 19th century, and travel. Victor Segalen's works are also discussed throughout the chapter, and part of the discussion is about the meetings that didn't happen between Segalen and Albert Kahn, who was a philanthropist, collector, utopian, and banker.
