Abstract

The National Islamic Front. The National Islamic Front has developed a theoretical discourse around the issue of democratic practice and has shown considerable flexibility in its political activities. Its main goal was to secure for itself a closer relationship to the centre of political power, even if that implied a shift in its alliance policy. The aim of this paper is to underline the major historical elements within the islamist movement and to put into perspective Hassan el-Turabi’s strategy.
