Abstract

The increased middle face height, with a short upper lip and visible upper alveolar process, is an indication for removing a slice of bone from the maxilla. Planning of the operation and operative procedures will be described. It is shown that osteosynthesis with mini-plates without the need for intermaxillary fixation is possible, provided that the planning is painstaking and that a precise operative technique is used.
