Abstract

Hexavalent molybdenum combines with hexamethylphosphoroamide (HMPA), in a sufficiently acidic solution (8 mol l −1 HCl), to form the compound MoO 2Cl 2· 2HMPA, the formula of which has been established analytically. The compound crystallises in the orthorhombic system, with a = 20.46 A ̊ , b = 20.46 A ̊ , c = 24.34 A ̊ ; space group Fdd2; Z = 16.
