Abstract

The history of cybernetics in France, as it emerges at least provisionally from a preliminary study of its first two decades, not only casts the light of cultural erudition on the disciplines concerned by the development of modelling or the emblematic archetype of “communication science”, but also raises questions on the conditions that govern the circulation of knowledge and cause research communities to renew their intellectual toolkits as they come into contact with these flows of transdisciplinary concepts.
