Abstract

AbstractAutoimmune encephalitis diagnosisAutoimmune encephalitis (AIE) diagnosis is difficult due to the diversity and lack of specificity of clinical and radiological manifestations whereas a quick diagnosis could condition the recovery. The characterization of autoantibodies is essential in the diagnostic process. Combining a tissular test and an identification test is recommended to characterize them. Their great diversity and the variety of clinical profiles prompt to search these antibodies in cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) and serum. We present the experience of two UHC laboratories exploring these pathologies routinely over a period of seven years (Toulouse) and eight years (Bicêtre). The complex diagnosis of AIE requires the results consultation from different professionals. The search for follow-up markers and criteria supporting the therapeutic decision have to be discovered.
