Abstract

Our paper tries to address one of the major problems facing the student. It’s about the transition from the secondary to the university. This phase is really critical because it marks a break between the university teaching/learning system and the systems that preceded it. The student is faced with a completely new discursive community through the discourses relating to the communication situations that it imposes. In a largely qualitative investigation, our research proposes an approach within the framework of French for specific university purposes (FSUP). This approach articulates between a disciplinary dimension (relating to two disciplines : electrical engineering and mechanical engineering) and a university dimension which relates to university techniques, necessary for the integration of the new graduates into a discursive community which is completely new for them.
