Abstract

The conditional in his historical use in narration is often putted in concurrence with the future tense. The students learn in their grammar class that the conditional express a future in the past but find hard to understand that use. This article has for goal to bring some light to this question in comparing, from a linguistic approach, the use of future and conditional tenses in the narration, and help to better understand the differences in nuances brought by the two tenses.
