Abstract

The archaeological operation carried out around the apse of the church and the modern sacristy of the parish church of «Notre Dame de Maubourguet» (Hautes-Pyrénées) consisted of excavating the trench of a rain drain. It confirmed the presence of antique constructions on the site and made it possible to study the occupation of the parish cemetery. This cemetery was set up in the ruins of the Gallo-Roman establishment as early as the 5th or 6th century. It was closed down only in 1818. Repeated embanking of the cemetery preserved the group of inhumations on the site over a period of thirteen centuries.
