Abstract

The Peyote-Deer and the Corn-Deer : Hunting, formative ritual of the Huichol « Trinity ». The ritual and mythological cycle integrates the deer to a network of identical and differential relationships with the two other emblematic figures of the cognitive trinity : peyote and corn. Having defined the multi-dimensions dynamics, notably the political dimension of this network, the author attempts to show through an ordered description of different moments of the hunt, how cynegetic practice is involved in community and religious identity.
