Abstract

Abstract Drilling for oil in the Reggan region (Algeria) of the western Sahara shows the presence of a Carboniferous basin, in which two continental series--Namurian and Stephanian--can be distinguished. The Westphalian is essentially absent. Some fossils (fish scales, Leaia, and Cordaites) that are new for the region are described.
