Abstract

Lung cancer is rare in young patients as the median age at diagnosis in France is 68 years in men and 66 years in women. Many studies suggest that lung cancer in young patients may represent a specific entity as it’s associated with some characteristics as: female over-representation, predominance of adenocarcinoma and advanced stage at diagnosis. Young patients seem to be more frequently never-smoker. Regarding genomic alteration, fusions are reported to be more frequent than in older patients and particularly ALK rearrangement but prevalence of EGFR mutations seem to be less frequent in this population. Genomic profiling as to be done to identify oncogenic genomic alteration and optimize treatment. Prognosis remain poor in this population and controversial compared to older patients.1877-1203/© 2023 SPLF. Published by Elsevier Masson SAS. All rights reserved.
