Abstract

In the epidermic cells ofAllium cepa stained with a benzopyrene-glycerol-serum medium the fluorescence microscope shows a blue cytoplasmic fluorescence. The cells which have absorbed benzopyrene plasmolize and deplasmolize in the same time as the control cells. No photodynamic effect could be observed when stained cells were irradiated with ultra-violet light.
