Abstract
Aim: Statins increase the risk of type-2-diabetes in predisposed individuals. It is not known whether PCSK9 inhibitors may also increase this risk. A massive upregulation of LDLR in beta cells could prove lipotoxic and alter GSIS. We aimed to assess the regulation of LDLR expression and function as well as the effects of LDL uptake on GSIS in beta cells.
