Abstract

Two intense overlapped Stark transitions in 4F3/2 – 4I13/2 in Nd:YAG crystal contains wavelength of 1319 and 1338 nm. This simultaneous dual-wavelength laser provides a potential source for generating coherent terahertz wave radiation of 3.23 THz by the nonlinear optical difference frequency method. Laser characteristics of CW operation of 1319 nm/1338 nm dual-wavelength Nd:YAG crystal were studied. The maximum output power was 5.77 W. The threshold was 2.28 W. The slope efficiency was 25.39%. The central wavelengths were 1319.52 and 1338.56 nm. The divergence angle was 2.03 mrad and the beam quality was 1.13.
