Abstract

Reflectance confocal microscopy (RCM) generates serial depth images with either 8mm mosaic or 0.6mm field views with the Vivascope 1500 or 3000, respectively. Using 830nm light produces greyscale cellular level images of features that refract light at that narrow portion of the spectrum. Margin mapping for lentigo maligna and lentigo maligna melanoma with RCM can be challenging, especially without clear lesion boundaries or visible markings within confocal images. In some cases, orientation of anatomical direction is important, while in other cases, marking the boundaries of a particular finding is critical.
