Abstract

We determine layer selectively the magnetic in a magnetic thin film with high accuracy (4-61. In the moments, spin orientations and thicknessess oP an present SV structure each magnetic layer is found to have a epitaxial double spin valve structure, Si(OOl)/Cn/FeNi/Cu near bulk magnetic moment, hut the magnetic moment /Co/Cu/FeNi/Cu, using Polarised Neutron Reflectivity orientations in each layer depend on the direction and (PNR). At saturation, the layer-averaged magnetic strength of the applied magnetic field. moment per CO atom was Pound to be 1.71 i 0.08 p,,, while the top (bottom) FeNi layer moment was 1.08 f 0.06 ERESULTS AND DISCUSSION pB (0.95 f 0.08 pa). For an applied field strength H, smaller than the c0 layer coercive field of oe, the in-plane but canted with respect to each other in contrast to the fully antiparallel state predicted by simple energy minimisation.
