Abstract

A composite film of dimyristoyl-phosphatidylcoline (DMPC) and bacteriorhodopsin (BR) was fabricated by multilayer molecular thin film method using fatty acid and lipid on a quartz substrate or a hydrogenated amorphous silicon thin film. FTIR reflection absorption spectrums and UV absorption spectrums of the films were characterized on the detail of surface structure of the films. The spectroscopic data exhibited a specific layer by layer interaction of BR and environmental molecule DMPC above fatty acid. Especially, 4 layer composite LB films DMPC and BR exhibited an entirely different feature of IR reflection absorption spectrum depend on fatty acid species.
