Abstract
A Lax pair for the Goryachev-Chaplygin top (GCT) is presented. The pair is obtained from that for the Kowalewski top found by Reyman and Semenov-Tian-Shansky (1987). Explicit formulae are constructed in terms of theta functions for the dynamical variables.
