Abstract

As if the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) did not have a massive proposed rule reforming treatment with methadone — but keeping Opioid Treatment Programs (OTPs) in charge — congressional lawmakers have again tried to pass a bill that would make prescriptions of methadone for opioid use disorder (OUD) available from any addiction clinician, and allow pharmacies to dispense methadone for OUD.
