Abstract
India is known as the global pharmaceutical capital because of the ever growing generic drug manufacturing industry. With the growth of such an industry the issue of protection to pharmaceutical patents is also gaining importance. Pharmaceutical patent protection is of prime importance to pharma companies because of the huge amount of money invested in the RD access to cheaper medicines; the issue of compulsory licensing and the patent infringement of pharma patents. It analyses the future of pharmaceutical patents through case studies of some of the most latest and landmark judgments passed in the history of pharmaceutical patents.
