Abstract

The 1100°C isothermal sections indicate fairly large extensions of the C14 Laves phase andμ phase regions in the Nb-Fe-Si and Nb-Co-Si systems, respectively, and stabilization of a ternary C14 Laves phase in the latter ternary system. Both Laves phase andμ phase extensions are along constant niobium lines. The atomic size effect on the stabilization of Laves phase appears to be small but it may be appreciable for theμ phase.
