Abstract

The American Journal of Economics and SociologyVolume 69, Issue 1 p. 90-134 Laurence S. Moss, 1944–2009 Warren J. Samuels, Warren J. Samuels University of Wisconsin Warren J, Samuels received his doctorate in economics from the University of Wisconsin in 1957. He taught at Missouri, Georgia State, and Miami (his undergraduate school) for a total of 11 years and at Michigan State University for 31 years (1968–1999). He specialized in the history, philosophy, and methodology of economics and in law and economics (economic role of government). He edited the Journal of Economic Issues (1970–1981), founded Research in the History of Economic Thought and Methodology, founded a series on Recent Economic Thought and another reprinting Classics in Economics, as well as several dozen other volumes. His research and writing have concentrated on the economic role of government and its place in the history of ideas.
