Abstract

It is an honor to launch Cellular Logistics. We hope that this journal will serve the community of cell biologists in multiple ways. We defined a new discipline of cell biology “Cellular Logistics” as: “The organization of the flow of molecules, information and energy to their destinations, inside and outside of cells.” We envision that this discipline would link intracellular trafficking with other cellular processes, e.g., cell polarity, mitochondrial function, cell cycle, biological clock, signaling and development. During the planning stage we recruited an outstanding Editorial Board including four Associate Editors. We are proud to have editorial board members from most of the areas that we would like to cover in the journal. The board discussed options for the journal’s policies and refined its mission. As a result of these discussions, we decided to implement a number of publication policies that we hope will benefit everyone in the community.
