Abstract

While a vertical magnetic dipole will radiate horizontally polarised waves over a homogeneous isotropic earth, the effect of anisotropy will convert some of the radiated energy to vertical polarisation. An analysis of this situation is outlined employing an anisotropic surface impedance model.
