Abstract

Using lattice field theory techniques, we perform an exploratory study of the quantisation of the simplest extended object, the Λ ø 41+1 kink soliton, and the associated zero-mode contribution to the kink soliton mass in regions in and beyond the semiclassical regime. The calculations are done in the non-trivial scaling region so that our lattice results can be meaningfully compared with the classical and semiclassical continuum results. We show how to extract the kink from this full quantum field theory treatment and show, as a function of parameter space, where the zero-mode contributions become significant.
