Abstract
The ideas of lattice QCD are presented and the status for hadron phenomenology is illustrated by a few examples. Special emphasis is given to recent developments allowing for an exact implementation of chiral symmetry on the lattice. Finally a few words are added with respect to the problem of chiral extrapolation.
