Abstract

We have developed an analytical analysis based on lattice dynamics theory to study phonon dispersion relation for gold nanotube. This paper gives an overview of the methodology for calculating of phonon dispersion of gold nanotube using an example of small gold nanosheet. The dynamical matrix for the gold nanosheet was calculated using the force constants derived from Gupta Potential (GP). A better understanding of properties of gold nanotube is useful for its quick characterisation for possible applications in bio sensing, imaging etc. This work may be helpful in formulating algebra for calculating the phonon dispersion of gold nanotube and can be further used for calculating properties such as specific heat, thermal conductivity etc. at low computational cost in comparison with first principle calculations.
