Abstract
Nanoparticles of Nickel ferrite (NiFe2O4) compound are studied by high pressure Raman spectroscopy. The lattice dynamics of the system is highly influenced by the applied external pressure. The system showed anomalous changes in line width of A1g mode and subtle changes in the slope of many of the modes at 4.9 GPa indicating towards local structural rearrangements. A new mode is observed at ∼485 cm−1 above 4.9 GPa establishing reduction in local symmetry.
