Abstract

Lattice dimensionality has been studied for an effective spin- 1 2 system using correlated effective field theory. A Heisenberg spin Hamiltonian with uniaxial spin alignment in the ordered phase is considered for simple cubic, square planar and linear chain lattices. In two dimensions, the order parameter shows the behaviour of the exact Ising result. The critical fluctuations are reduced for dimensions lower than three. On the other hand, the correlation parameters and susceptibilities are enhanced at the critical temperature as the dimensionality is lowered. The critical temperature are higher in higher dimensions. The experimental results of low dimensional compounds are compared and an excellent agreement is obtained.
