Abstract

Background: An ineffective cough condition will have an impact on increasing energy use which makes the patient feel tired quickly, decreased appetite, weight loss if this continues can cause bradypnoea (decreased respiratory rate) to apnoea. The client's goal is to gain increased knowledge, attitudes and skills in the health sector, especially respiratory problems and effective cough practice independently. Method: this community service uses education and simulation. Results: Most clients can identify health problems in the elderly, especially respiratory disorders such as Pneumonia, Bronchitis, Asthma, COPD, Pulmonary TB and clients can demonstrate effective coughing techniques in overcoming respiratory problems. It is hoped that before being given coughing exercises it is very effective to give warm fluids orally as much as 250 – 500 ml which is taken 2 hours before practice and the effect can help the phlegm become thinner making it easier to expel phlegm when coughing
