Abstract

New energy as the main body is the main features for China's new power system, which will effectively include the large-scale access of microgrid. The new power system could be considered as a multi-energy complementary and mutually interactive energy Internet. However, construction of new power systems will bring higher demands and greater challenges to the development of power communication networks. Therefore, it is indispensable to construct communication channels in the new power systems, and requirements for communication network coverage, delay, security, and reliability are more stringent. The advantages of 5G networks lie in ultra-high bandwidth, ultra-low latency, and ultra-large connections. As one of the key technologies of 5G, network slicing is a technology that provides different business functions on the same physical network. Network slicing technology can realize dynamic and flexible allocation of underlying physical network resources, improve resource utilization of the entire network, improve user service quality, and enhance network flexibility and resilience. Therefore, 5G network slicing will become an important supplement to the power communication system. This paper discusses the communication requirements of the new power system, and elaborates the latest research progress of 5G slicing technology in the power system. Taking the provincial power grid as an example, this paper designs the application architecture of 5G slicing in the power grid. The benefits of grid applications are discussed.
