Abstract
Of late, Wireless Sensor Networks (WSNs) became ubiquitous as they play a pivotal role in monitoring critical parameters of the environment pertaining to civilian and military applications. Sensors can also be embedded into wearable devices to track vital signs of patients in healthcare domain. Mobility of sensor devices as per the demands of the application makes WSNs dynamic. In critical dynamic WSN applications security is a challenging issue. Addressing key security requirements such as node authentication, data integrity and confidentiality is crucial for the success of critical WSN applications. Towards achieving this goal, many dynamic key management protocols and dynamic WSNs have been proposed in the past. However, the research on dynamic key management in dynamic WSNs is inadequate and is an active area of research to secure WSN applications deployed in critical environments. This paper throws light into the study of latest developments on dynamic key management in dynamic WSNs. We presented the insights in generalized way to serve as a reference point for future work in such networks.
