Abstract

This paper aims to show conditions under which we can judge whether a decision criterion is a satisficing one or not, from given information about preference ordering and choice set. This problem is transformed into the following one: Under what conditions can we find a performance function g:M × Ω → R and an aspiration level function π:Ω → R such that g is consistent with a micro order on M × Ω and with a macro order on M, and such that a choice set is completely specified by { m|(∀ ω) ( g( m, ω) ⩾ τ( ω))}, where M is a set of decision alternatives and Ω is a set of uncertain states? This problem can be solved under the conditions represented by six axioms.
