Abstract

ObjectiveAnalyze classification characteristics of resilience in lung cancer patients undergoing chemotherapy by latent profile method to explore its influencing factors and its relationship with medical coping strategy. MethodsBy exerting the general information questionnaire, Resilience Scale Specific to Cancer (RS-SC) and Lung Cancer Chemotherapy Symptom Cluster Assessment Questionnaire and Medical Coping Modes Questionnaire (MCMQ), a questionnaire survey was conducted on 265 lung cancer chemotherapy patients at a tertiary Grade-A hospital in Guangzhou from November 2023 to March 2024. Latent profile analysis of resilience in these patients was performed by Mplus8.3, estimating its influencing factors and its impact on medical coping strategy choosing. Results259 valid questionnaires were collected and the effective response rate reached 97.74%. The patients can be divided into three groups according to their resilience, including low-resilience group (20.46%), mid-resilience group (40.52%) and high-resilience group (38.97%). Multi classification Logistic regression analysis shows that education level, personal monthly income, gastrointestinal and emotional symptom clusters scores are the influencing factors of different resilience classifications (P<0.05). There are statistically significant differences in the scores of confrontation and resignation dimensions towards medical coping strategy among patients with different latent profiles (P<0.01). ConclusionsResilience is heterogeneous among patients undergoing lung cancer chemotherapy and presents in three categories. Medical staff should intervene discriminately according to the characteristics and influencing factors of different patient profiles, promoting their enthusiasm and mental resilience.
