Abstract

First generation DIOR (Eurocor, Bonn, Germany) was used in 69% of patients whereas second generation DIOR was used in the remaining subjects. The first generation DIOR consisted in a three-folded balloon with a microporous surface on which paclitaxel was dissolved at a concentration of 3 μg/mm 2 . Successively, this first generation DIOR has been replaced by the second generation DIOR in which paclitaxel is embedded in a matrix consisting of shellac that is a natural bioadhesive polymer providing higher tissue concentration of paclitaxel [7] .A t six months follow-up the rate of TLR in patients presenting with a BMS restenosis and a DES restenosis was 9.2% and 11.5%, respectively whereas
