Abstract

A new cubic double perovskite oxide, LaSrMnCoO5+δ(LSMC), was investigated as a novel cathode for intermediate-temperature solid oxide fuel cells (IT-SOFC). The electrical conductivity of an LSMC sample reaches 111–140Scm−1 in the temperature range 600–850°C. XRD results show that an LSMC cathode is chemically compatible with IT electrolyte material Sm0.2Ce0.8O1.9 (SDC). The interfacial polarization resistance was as low as 0.048, 0.098 and 0.219Ωcm2 at 800, 750, and 700°C, respectively. The preliminary results suggested that double perovskite LSMC material could be considered as the candidate for IT-SOFC cathode.
