Abstract

Since the 1960’s, when lasers were first shown to be of use in surgical applications, the equipment has progressed from the use of laboratory breadboard lasers to compact, highly sophisticated, microprocessor controlled systems. This equipment makes up a fast growing, highly competitive business area with sales exceeding $50 million in 1984.
