Abstract

A number of sources have been developed for the production of radiation in the soft x-ray region. While much work has been published on synchrotrons as continuous soft x-ray sources, recent experiments have shown that pulsed sources such as gas puff z-pinches and laser-produced plasmas can yield high x-ray fluxes in the 10 – 100 Angstrom region. This paper will outline the development of laser-produced plasmas as a soft x-ray source with particular application to x-ray microscopy.
