Abstract

This paper discusses washing and handling combinations, fit-up, and joint design in high power/high production carbon dioxide laser welding. If a bad washing and handling combination is picked, one runs the risk of up to 30% leakers if a leakproof joint is desired. Parameters used for fit-up in high volume production is discussed. Finally, joint design discusses the entry side of the beam for lap welds, spatter problems, and joint design for stampings. This paper discusses washing and handling combinations, fit-up, and joint design in high power/high production carbon dioxide laser welding.
