Abstract

The Eu3+ ions doped Ba3BP3O12 were prepared by high-temperature solid-state reaction method. The site-selective excitation and emission spectroscopy, and luminescence decay have been investigated in the 5D0 → 7F0 region under a pulsed, tunable, narrowband dye laser at RT and 10 K. The emission only arises from the 5D0 level of Eu3+ ions. The study is focused on the distribution of Eu3+ sites which exhibit different spectroscopic features in Ba3BP3O12. Non-site-selective emission spectra under UV excitation were also performed. There exist two isolated Eu3+ crystallography sites in Ba3BP3O12, among which no energy transfers could be detected. The defect structures and charge compensation mechanism were discussed.
