Abstract

Applicability of the laser scribing technique to integrated CdS/CdTe solar cell fabrication of the screen printed and sintering method is examined. As the first step, the CdS window layer is separated utilizing a Q-switched Nd:YAG laser. Laser scribing makes the separation width smaller than 40 mu m with sufficient insulation resistance. In the fabrication technique, CdS films are fabricated through two processes, drying and sintering, and laser scribing is performed in two ways, i.e., before and after sintering. It was found that the output performance is inhomogeneous from position to position in a glass substrate of a large area solar cell when the CdS layer was separated after laser scribing. >
