Abstract

We developed a laser pulse circulation system for a compact source of monochromatic X-rays (10–60keV) based on Compton scattering. In the X-ray source, laser pulses from a Q-switch Nd:YAG laser system collide with electron beams generated by a X-band linac. With the circulation system, a laser pulse collides with an electron beam multiple times, and the X-ray yield theoretically becomes 100 times larger than for one collision. In the proof-of-principle experiment, the laser intensity became larger by 10 times. Then, the X-ray yield will rise to at least 109photons/s.
