Abstract

Abstract An analysis of the spectroscopic characteristics of a chromium doped gadolinium gallium garnet crystal substituted by cations Ca2+, Mg2+, Zr4+ has been performed. Room temperature pulsed laser operation of the Cr3+:GGG(Ca, Mg, Zr) garnet under flashlamp and ruby laser pumping has been obtained. Slope efficiency up to 0.08% and free-running lasing from 774 to 814 nm under flashlamp pumping were achieved.
