Abstract
We introduce a crosslike molecular junction based on a thiol-functionalized porphyrin derivative, which favors maximal electric charge flow along either of two perpendicular directions, with each direction being directly related to an equilibrium configuration of the compound. Controllable switching between these configurations is further demonstrated by optical means, which allows for control of the direction of current flow through the molecular junction.
