Abstract

A CO 2 laser microwave double resonance experiment in the presence of an intense Stark field was applied to the 01 10 and 03 10 vibrational states of the OCS molecule. The precise dipole moment of the 03 10 state, 0.68173 ± 0.00020 D, was determined. The 03 10←01 10 band origin was obtained as 1052.94429 ± 0.00020 cm −1. This technique is very useful for accurate calibration of the space between Stark electrodes.
