Abstract

Laser—microwave double-resonance experiments have been carried out on CIO 2 using a CO 2 laser with an in-cavity cell. From analysis of the signals observed, two infrared transitions of the v 1 band of this molecule which are coincident with two CO 2 laser lines have been identified - the transition N' ← N″ = 5 23 ← 5 14, J = 11 2 ← 11 2 of 35CIO 2 coincident with the 10 P(14)line, and N' ← N″ = 6 25 ← 7 16, J = 13 2 ← 15 2 of 37ClO 2 coincident with the 10 P(26) line. Double-resonance signals above 100 GHz were measured using an harmonic generator. In the case of 35ClO 2, by the assignment and consideration of a far-infrared laser line observed earlier in ClO 2, the constants of the υ 1 = 1 state were determined as A = 52025.5 MHz, B = 9892.0 MHz, C = 8280.6 MHz.
