Abstract

The first overtone band of the ClO radical in the 2 Π 3 2 component of the ground electronic state has been studied by the technique of laser magnetic resonance using CO laser lines in the 1660- to 1680-cm −1 region. Assignment and analysis of the Doppler-limited transitions have yielded values for the 2-0 band origin and the B rotational constant in the v = 2 state for both 35ClO and 37ClO. These values are: for 35Cl 16O, ν 0 = 1677.259(2) cm −1, B 2 eff = 0.60800(22) cm −1; and for 37Cl 16O, ν 0 = 1663.264(2) cm −1, B 2 eff = 0.59774(32) cm −1.
