Abstract

By exciting NaK in a supersonic nozzle beam with the 4765 Å argon-ion laser line, we have obtained a set of spectroscopic constants for the X 1Σ + ground state. In addition, we find evidence for a D 1Π å a 3Σ + transition in the region between 6250 and 7100 Å. By measuring these bound-continuum fluorescence features, we have determined for the first time spectroscopically the lowest triplet potential curve of an alkali dimer.
